MYRIAD - Christine Abdelnour
Christine Abdelnour was born in Paris in 1978. It is with the discovery of improvised music in 1997, that she dedicates herself as a self-taught to the alto saxophone and to sound experimentation in general.
In a few years, she develops a personal and unique language, open to micro-tonality and contemporary techniques. Far from any narrative effect, her singular playing is characterized by an attraction towards sounds often close to electroacoustic music. She approaches sound as a malleable plastic material, rich in concrete textures that mix breath, silence and numerous acoustic distortions.
She considers listening as the basis of her music. Only this "tension" and this immediate availability allows to generate an intimate but shared space, an exposure of oneself but also an opening to the Other. The inside and the outside mix to reveal a reality altered by the sound and its displacements in the space-time. His music would like to reach a sensory intensity which would question the question of the form, the rhythm, the textures, the movement, the balance, the harmony or the energy.
Christine has toured internationally as a soloist or in various regular projects with Andy Moor, Magda Mayas, Chris Corsano, Eric Chenaux, Pascal Battus, Andrea Neumann, Joachim Nordwall, David Stackenas, Sven-Ake Johannson, Mazen Kerbaj, Sharif Sehnaoui and many others.
Christine has published more than fifteen cds and has collaborated with various artists from the visual arts, dance, theater or poetry
